Radish is the fresh root of Raphanus sativus which contains glucose, sucrose, fructose, various kinds of amino acids, and vitamin C.
Radish is pungent and sweet in taste and cool in nature. It goes to Lung and Stomach Channels.
According to Chinese Medicine, radish can remove food stagnation, clear phlegm-heat, remove toxins, regulate middle-jiao, and help guide the rebellious Qi downward. It is great for cough due to phlegm, hematemesis, nose bleeding, diabetes, dysentery, and headache.
We can eat radish as raw, stir-fried, cooked, or even made into herbal diet. It can also be pounded or grinded to get the juice for drinking or applied to the affected area when used externally.
