Whenever we want to do something, we use what we so-called "reasoning" to make a decision. In Kababbalah, reason means purely egoistic "reasonable" calculation. This reasonable calculation is the basis of our desires and actions. What we do, we calculate the amount of pleasure that we can expect from our "proposed" action compared to the amount of pain we will possibly receive. Then we subtract one from the other to see how much it cost in order for us to decide whether or not if it is a "Go" or No-Go" proposed action or decision. Such "reasonable" approach to our decision-makings is called "Faith within Reason" in Kabbalah.
