I have noticed many people hold on to old belief systems or even set limits to their own thinking. When a person does not let go and flush out those old belief system that was instilled in the mind, nothing can be changed.
For example, a person wants to make more money, but he or she keeps thinking about that all the rich people are not good people. How can this person to persuade himself or herself to make more money or become rich? It is a conflicting thought.
Another example, a person who has a chronic pain issue and has tried everything that is available to heal the pain, but nothing works. Then when I ask that person what kind of benefits or good that he or she can get from this pain, there will be a simple "nothing" as an answer. But later on as I keep asking more questions, I will find out that there will be less or no work plus extra income from the government or extra help and attentions from the family and friends. The "special attentions" a person can get from the loved ones can be a huge factor on preventing he or she from healing. This is what we called the "secondary gain."
It is crucial for us to let go of our old stories and belief systems in order for a situation to change. We have to replace the old thought patterns and limiting beliefs with new and empowering beliefs that can move us in a positive direction.
